This locking system has a female groove and a male end tongue. The female end is like a track or a channel that the male end slides into. However there are times when you will have to do it the opposite. Like going into a closet, under some cabinets and even into an entire room. I call this working backwards Now, I have some tricks that I share in another video and they really help with making this pretty easy to do.
Although, it is a lot slower and we want to try and avoid this as much as possible. So with this in consideration, you need to look over the areas that you are installing into and decide how you would avoid working backwards or how do you keep it to a bare minimum. Inside my members area you will have access to step by step instructions on how to install Laminate or Vinyl Plank. You will find videos, guides, a members only group for questions and discussion and plenty more.
This is really a simple process….. Just pause it while you do a step and then start it up again to watch the next step and so on. This will make this process go a lot easier for you!!! I always put together 10 boards and use them as a guide during the layout process. By using 10 boards as a guide, you will be able to get the most accurate measurements while figuring out where the planks will start, where they will end, how big pieces against walls and cabinets will be and it will help with not having to do a bunch of math.
This is really simple to do. You will measure the 10 boards and write down that measurement on a piece of paper. Now you need to add another 10 boards to the first number. You will probably need to do this anywhere between 6 to 8 times. No worries though, you will know if you need to add to this cheat sheet later on. I will share more about this in the video later on. Quick tip — If you have a smart phone, you can download an app that calculates fractions.
Just measure from wall to wall. You now want to divide that number in half. For example- if you measured 42 inches and divided that in half it would be 21 inches. Once you do this, then we will go to our 10 boards and measure 21 inches and mark the board with a marker. The video above explains this well. Now that we know where the planks need to fall in the hallway, we now need to snap a few lines on the floor with a chalk line. This style of laminate floor floats above the surface, which makes installation in small spaces much easier.
There's no glue or sealant required once it snaps into place. Cut laminate floor planks down to size with a circular saw. Make your cuts outside your work space, then bring it back and see if it fits. As temperatures rise and fall, your laminate floors will expand and contract. Leaving that gap allows the floors to shift as needed without hitting the wall and potentially buckling.
Hide the gap between your flooring and the wall with wood trim. Timothy Winzell last year. Ask yourselves which floor do you like the best, and which do you like the least. How much money is a limited budget in relation to the cost of doing each project?
Do you have the tools and equipment to do each job, and if not, how much will it cost to buy or rent them? I think it would be easier to lay laminate on a level tile floor than it would be to pull up laminate and lay tile.
We just finished tiling our kiitchen, dining room and several related closets and areas that all run together, and I can tell you that it isn't as easy and fast as it looks if you want it to be straight and level. When framing for by-pass doors you have to take in consideration the floor coverings the doors will be over. Yes once the carpet is removed you create a larger gap. Now you will have to re-trim the opening, easiest would be to replicate what you removed. Easy DIY'er job good luck.
Select Surfaces laminate flooring Sam's Club Q. With proper installation, care and cleaning according to instructions, it will hold up as advertised.

Closet floor and track replacement Q. That carpet probably continues to the back wall of the closet? Maybe you can remove the track, pull back enough carpet to meet the room's carpet and use some seam tape where they meet tape goes under the carpet, sticky side up?
Worse case call a small carpet installing company and see how much they would charge to do this for you, likely a lot cheaper than redoing whole room obviously. Maybe you need to take up the old floor and replace it with a new one, or maybe refinishing your original floor makes more sense.
