Newark museum summer programs

Artsmart connects the museum works to their lives at home and in school by comparing the art to their world around them. Students will learn about people who make our community, buildings and transportation, and compare their surroundings with the subjects in the artwork.

Members of The Newark Museum of Art are able to take part in several members-only events throughout the year, even now through several virtual offerings. Applicants of all educational and career backgrounds are encouraged to apply. Candidates must submit an application by the deadlines listed below in order to be considered for the time frame indicated.

Summer Internship Program During the summer a limited number of internships are awarded to students who are entering their second year of college. In addition to working within a museum department, students take part in a more expanded orientation process, learning in-depth about museum careers, as well as other art, science and education opportunities at institutions in the city of Newark and throughout the state.

The Museum offers unpaid internship opportunities during the academic year for students and recent college graduates during the fall and winter sessions.
